Some Music To Get Us Started
Well this is it the first track for this new blog/podcast or whatever it is, maybe I could call it a blogcast. Too much? Anyway, this is a track most of you who know me will already know pretty well. It’s called “Truth” and it’s quite an old tune. I first wrote it years back when I was in music college in Liverpool, almost 10 years now… damn is it that long? Hard to believe. It’s got a kind of swing feel to it and I think it’s probably influenced a lot by Van Morrison who was a big hero of mine at the time. He still is to some degree but it was a big phase I was into then.
This version was actually recorded in France a little under 2 years ago now while I was staying there. I set up a kind of temporary studio in the basement of our house and this old tune just somehow came out again. This is the best version I’ve done I would say, I wrote the bridge section at the time I recorded this and I think overall it came out well. I had some fun messing about with the lead guitar but tried not to go overboard. The bass is possibly a little loud in this mix so if you’ve got any kind of bass boost on your stereo you probably wanna turn that off before listening. I love the bass and it’s probably my main instrument now, the one I’m best at I think anyway, so you can always tell one of my mixes if the bass is drowning out everything else hehe
Hope you like it, I thought it was a good place to start this little musical journey so please feel free to let me know what you think in the comments, unless you’re a spammer I HAVE PLENTY OF VIAGRA ALREADY THANK YOU!!! … ERR… NOT THAT I NEED IT OBVIOUSLY… move along nothing to see here.
Take care all and have a good New Year. I hope to post at least one new track every week, the back catalog will keep me going a while and hopefully it will spur me on to finish recording all these new songs I have. We’ll see
Catch you later,
Dan

That was amazing! Who’s doing the vocals? Is that you? You have a great talent, mate. Nice to see you are using it.
I got introduced to Van The Man by my dad some years back. We saw him live & backstage in Duisburg last year. Pretty weird guy, but awesome musician. I’ll probably catch a concert again this year.
Keep this stuff coming, it’s great! I love the whole podcast-to-album idea with a blog as production notes. I don’t know if someone else is doing this, if not I reckon you invented something really cool there… Keep up the great work!

Thanks glad you like it, yes it is me singing, everyone is always surprised by that. My voice doesn’t really fit with my body too well, I have a pretty girly signing voice which is even more hilarious when I sing live
I might do some YouTube videos with the acoustic just to prove it, we’ll see

Thanks very much, I appreciate it
I tend to change styles a little as I like so many different types of music, you might find not every track is like Van Morrison but hopefully they’ll still be enjoyable… I think

Very nice thanks, I got here from your blog which I heard about on the LinuxOutlaws podcast. Will you be putting an extended version of sudo-mod-probe up here? the version I found is rather short.
