Greetings everyone,

You may or may not know but the National Novel Writing Month started today, November 1st. Also known as Nanowrimo for short, it's a challenge that thousands of people take up around the world every year. The goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days and complete a novel. That's 1600 words a day which doesn't sound too bad, but it's a lot of work.

I have to confess I haven't actually done Nano myself and I won't be doing it this year either. I've chickened out, I have enough to do right now as it is. However, I have done it's sister event Script Frenzy and I have many good friends of the literary persuasion due to that. I'm a member of a Liverpool writing group, though I feel a bit of fraud saying that now as I don't do a lot of writing these days, not fiction writing anyway. Instead I wrote this song about Nano in support of my friends. I actually wrote most of it last year but ironically I could never think of a second verse. I asked some of my writer friends for help but haven't had much luck with that either. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they were just all out of words after the challenge... (cough).

So here it is "The Nano Song", a whimsical little tune about Nanowrimo. This is the demo I recorded at the time but listening back recently I decided to release it as it is. I did the classic guitarist's trick of just filling the second verse with a solo instead. Foot on wedge time hehe :)
